In the last few months many people have joined Comet while previously it was limited to Perplexity Max subscribers.

Comet features for max users:

The Email Assistant, which helps write email replies in your tone, and the Background Assistant, which performs multiple tasks while you work, is limited to Max subscribers. Comet is designed by Perplexity to simplify online tasks and reduce dependence on traditional search engines.

It aims to support professionals who use the web for work by offering smarter, AI-driven tools for productivity and organisation. Although its adoption might be slower compared to popular browsers like Chrome or Opera, users who spend a lot of time online for work may find Comet more efficient and useful for managing tasks, research, and browsing in one place.

Comet features :

The browser’s main feature is Comet Assistant, an AI tool similar to Copilot in Microsoft Edge. It allows users to ask questions about a webpage, summarise content, and move through pages automatically. Comet also keeps track of what the user views, what they read, or what they are working on, so that it can suggest related content to the user. The browser can close inactive tabs after some time and remind users what they were doing in earlier sessions.

Each new tab comes with its own Comet Assistant, so that the users can ask different questions at the same time. Comet also includes tools like Discover for personalised news and content, similar to OpenAI’s Pulse, a Shopping assistant for comparing prices and finding deals, and other sections like Travel, Space, Finance, and Sports.
