In the wake of security agencies warning about the activities of foreign terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, unprecedented security arrangements have been made for the Amarnath Yatra this time. Keeping in mind the safety of the yatra in which lakhs of devotees will participate, additional security forces have been deployed and strict vigil has been maintained on the routes. Officials have made it clear that there will be no compromise on the safety of the pilgrims, and a high alert has been declared across Jammu and Kashmir.
Security agencies have arrested 9 people suspected of plotting to carry out terrorist attacks in several areas of the country's major cities, including Delhi and Mumbai.
The operation employed all available resources -- from troops working on the ground to sniffer dogs and drones in a “joint and integrated” manner involving the Army, J&K Police and CRPF.
